OPSEC recently delivered a STOPViolence workshop for one of our valued clients. The purpose of this workshop was to guide and empower employees on how to respond effectively during an escalating or violent situation, to keep safe. OPSEC’s facilitator, Jack Milford, along with his team, encouraged the audience to share their personal experiences of escalation and vulnerable situations.
A significant part of the workshop involved applying the “traffic safety” model that addresses situational safety, identifies possible threats and provides effective solutions. Preparation is the key to keeping our communities’ safe and we need the life skills to manage threats, abuse or violence. Emphasis is also placed on training the mind and the body through role play so that when one is faced with a violent situation, he/she does not become a victim to the “fight, flight” response. Role play is an interactive training method whereby participants can act out possible threats or real-life scenarios and gather first-hand knowledge on how to respond positively to get safe.
OPSEC workshops are a vital part of any organisation looking to keep its’ employees’ safe while carrying out their everyday work.
